With the proliferation of increasingly distributed collaborations, there is a strong need to enable high-throughput, high-volume data transfers between geographically distant sites. GridFTP is often chosen as a building block for experiment-specific data transfer infrastructures. The L-Store GridFTP plugin enables data transfer processes to directly access the underlying L-Store storage infrastructure without requiring the use of a performance-killing round trip through a userspace FUSE mount. Additionally, having direct access to the independent transfer streams within GridFTP facilitates reordering of the blocks in a more L-Store-performant manner.
